183 retailers approved for €6.5m funding in scheme

THE Molloy Group are among a number of South Dublin County businesses who have successfully applied for the government Covid-19 online retail scheme.
A total of 183 retailers were approved for€6.5m in funding through the scheme, with each business receiving between €16,000 and€40,000. The average grant value awarded is €35,500.
Molloys, Tallaght Village
Molloys operate seven off-licences in Dublin, including Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, and a major pub and restaurant complex in Tallaght village, which received a significant renovation in 2017.
A range of other businesses in the county were successful in their applications for the grant.
This included Walkinstown shop Tony Kealys, a popular haunt for all manner of baby needs, Callistoy Limited, a Rathcoole books, newspapers and stationary business, Fonthill based Home Appliances Unlimited Company and Beauty Savers International Limited on the Nangor Road.
Also successful were Thunders Bakery in the Ashleaf Shopping Centre in Crumlin, Greenhills company TC Matthews, Kylemore firm Floor Design Ltd, Ballymount business Art and Hobby, and O’Sullivan Safety on the Long Mile Road.
Inchicore based Dublin Food Co-op – a consumer co-operative founded in 1983 with a focus on organic and wholefood products –were another successful recipient.
The scheme, administered by Enterprise Ireland, aims to help Irish-owned retail businesses strengthen their online offerings, sustain jobs and enable them to reach a wider customer base.
Almost three-quarters of the successful applicants were located outside Dublin.
The value of the scheme, which received a total of 373 applications, was increased from€2m to €6.5m due to the high level of demand from retailers and the quality of proposals received.
Enterprise Ireland has said that it will be opening a second call under the Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme in the coming weeks.
