Ten recruits are expected to be assigned to the Clondalkin district, including Ballyfermot, and another ten for Lucan Garda Station.

The DMR West Division covers Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, Lucan, Rathcoole, Ronanstown, Finglas, Cabra, with division headquarters in Blanchardstown.

The other 30 new recruits will be assigned to stations in district K – Blanchardstown, Finglas and Cabra.

According to Department of Justice figures, at the end of 2017, there were a total of 194 gardai assigned to the Clondalkin district, of whom 83 were assigned to Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan for a list of local rank and file gardai attached to a number of stations over the past ten years, criticising decreasing numbers as a disgrace.

In response to the Deputy, Minister Flanagan said the Garda Commissioner is “responsible for the distribution of resources, including personnel, among the various garda divisions.”

As of December 31, 2017, up to 15 community gardai were assigned to Clondalkin, and seven to Ballyfermot.

After the 2014 graduation of 1,600 new recruits in Templemore, 137 were assigned to the DMR West Division, with 118 assigned to the DMR South Division (16 and 14 assigned to Sundrive and Terenure respectively).
