€355,330 funding boost for community groups

THE South Dublin Local Community Development Committee has approved funding totalling €355,330 to local and community groups across the county.
Funding was made available under the Department of Rural and Community Development Community Enhancement Programme 2020 and administered by the South Dublin Local Community Development Committee.
Projects awarded funding include development/renovation of community centres, youth amenities, sports and recreation facilities.
It also includes funding for improvements to town parks and common areas and spaces, CCTV equipment, public realm improvements, development of play/recreation spaces, energy efficiency type projects and purchase of equipment.
The biggest recipients of funding are from CEP Round 2, including €45,000 to replace windows at the Ballyowen Castle Youth and Community Centre.
Glenasmole Community Association Ltd will benefit from €36,866 to go towards works to their existing building, while a €30,868 boost is for Clondalkin Leisure Centre’s refurbishment of its all-weather facility.
€20,000 has been allocated for Tallaght Town AFC for a number of projects including the supply and fit of six new showers, four new toilets and a new oil boiler and cylinder.
St Aengus Parish and Tallaght Senior Citizen Club, Community Centre Ltd are in line for €15,000 towards the replacement of four single and two double emergency doors which are 30 years old and do not meet safety standards.
Within Round 1 CEP, there is €8,500 for Ronanstown Women’s Community Development Project to cover costs for French Doors (€4,000), perspex covered outdoor area decking (€3,000) and office flooring (€1,500).
Other beneficiaries Round 1 CEP are a €4,275 upgrade and expansion of the CCTV system at the Action Community and Enterprise CLG in Neilstown and a €4,000 CCTV upgrade at Clondalkin Equine Club.
A €4,466 boost is in line for Muintir Chronain to purchase IT equipment to develop Aras Chronain, providing creative spaces and crucial online interactive facilities.
The NCCWN/Women Together Tallaght Network will benefit from €4,000 to purchase office equipment, wooden floors and two laptops and Whitechurch Addiction Support Programme will get €4,700 towards a new kitchen.
