€7.93m paid by department for use of Direct Provision Centre

FAZYARD Ltd, the company providing accommodation at the Direct Provision Centre at Clondalkin Towers Hotel and other locations, was paid €7.93m last year by the Department of Justice.
The information was obtained via Freedom of Information request, by investigative journalist Ken Foxe, a Director with transparency group Right To Know.

Last year, it was revealed that Fazyard was paid €27.5 million from the State over an 11-year period for operating the Towers Hotel, the biggest centre in Dublin.
Under FOI, Mr Foxe discovered the Dept of Justice spent a total of €131m on providing accommodation to residents of direct provision at multiple locations in the country last year.
Other significant payments in South Dublin County from the Department of Justice included €2.9m to the Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley.
The highest earners were Millstreet Equestrian Services, who received €11.6m. They have provided accommodation at their Millstreet Centre in Cork and at other centres in Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.
East Coast Catering Ltd, who have provided accommodation at the Baleskin reception centre in North Dublin and the now closed Hatch Hall in the city centre, received €11.1m.
Mosney Holidays PLC were paid €10.8m to provide accommodation at the former holiday camp in Meath, which is the largest in the country and had a capacity of 600, according to details published by the Dept Justice.
