Combining efforts to supply food to Stewarts care staff

FOOTBALLERS, former army men, a local business and a councillor, are combining their efforts, to deliver food and emergency supplies to elderly residents during Covid-19.
The initiative started with a collaboration between Collinstown FC, Mark Ward TD and Clondalkin food business The Prep Master, providing meals to front line staff in Stewarts Care Centre in Palmerstown.

“We decided to support one of our local services, Stewarts Health Care in Palmerstown and provide them with meals for their front-line staff who have been working around the clock during this emergency,” said Deputy Ward.
“Dean Carpenter, Club Vice Chair and I met with Dublin footballer Dean Rock who is head of fundraising with Stewarts Health Care and we are now providing meals daily.”
The venture started last week and operates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The meals are packaged neatly and can be re-heated.
Meanwhile, a super six team of former Defence Force members from Clondalkin, have also linked in with the project, delivering Prep Master meals for elderly people.

Anthony Gallagher (60), former member of the 2nd Regiment, said they have been delivering prescriptions to vulnerable people since March 24, after they made enquiries with Lloyds Pharmacy. Following an early delivery, a picture went up on Facebook, which was seen by Daniel McGowan (of Easter egg fame) and South Dublin County Partnership got in touch with the group.
“To date, we have delivered over 500 prescriptions, to elderly, veterans and vulnerable,” said Gallagher, a Harelawn resident.
“Last week, Mark Ward contacted us if we could take meals off them for elderly people. We also help out delivering meals for St Mary’s school in Rowlagh.”
