Abusive towards staff and gardai in hospital

A MAN was abusive towards staff and gardai at Tallaght Hospital while people filmed the altercation on their mobile phone a court heard.

Dylan Bell (29), with an address of The Charles Stewart, Parnell Square East, Dublin 1, appeared before Tallaght District Court.

Garda David Ormonde told the court that on February 1, 2025, gardai responded to an incident involving a male at Tallaght Hospital who was engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour.

On arrival to the hospital, Mr Bell was observed being abusive towards staff and then to gardai.

While being escorted out of the facility, Mr Bell raised his voice, calling gardai “f**king useless” and staff “useless p**cks” despite being told by gardai that there was lots of people in the vicinity.

Onlookers were recording the commotion on their phones.

Bell was conveyed to Tallaght Garda Station.

The court heard Mr Bell has 50 previous convictions, including three for threatening and abusive behaviour.

Defence solicitor Ciara O’Brien said her client was at the time of the offence, dealing with substance abuse issues, but that he intends to return to his family and work in Carlow.

Judge Patricia McNamara imposed a sentence of three months suspended for a period of 12 months, on the defendant’s own bond of €200 with conditions that Mr Bell be of sober habits and no reoffending.

“Stay out of trouble,” said Judge McNamara.
