Additional information submitted for new equestrian centre in Rathcoole

Plans for a new 50 stable equestrian centre in Rathcreedan, were lodged last December by Lucy McCarthy.

The subject site is located on Tay Lane, approximately 100 metres from the R120 and forms part of a larger agricultural field.

The proposed development at Pond Field, contains plans for an equestrian facility for the purpose of breeding, breaking and producing horses for own use and sale on a 1.45 hectare site.

The facility consists of 50 stables in two adjacent blocks, indoor exercise area, machinery park, shelter building, and a staff welfare building to include associated canteen, wash area and tack room.

Plans also contain proposals for an outdoor sand arena, 1,800sq.m, and an ancillary yard approximately 3320sq.m, for vehicle parking-marshalling-loading-unloading.

An access road from Tay Lane is sought, along with landscaping, fencing, dungstead, water main connection, and foul sewer connection to existing sewer network on Tay Lane.

The applicant considers the overall development in a rural setting close to an industrial area, would not have a negative visual impact on the landscape.

A new entrance site is proposed off Tay Lane.

SDCC requested and received clarification on additional information from the applicant earlier this year.

The water services section had concerns regarding surface waste disposal from  the proposed development.

Subsequently, the applicant has submitted clarification of additional information on surface water soakway.

A decision on the planning application has yet to be made by SDCC.
