All-Ireland Championship joy for Tallaght Martial Arts

TALLAGHT Martial Arts Fight team topped the medal table in Round 1 of the KBI All-Ireland National Championship 2024 in the Tallaght Leisure Centre at the weekend securing 27 Team Ireland positions in the Junior World Championships which will be held in Hungary in August.

With 37 Gold Medals, it goes without saying that competition was hotly contested.

Nathan Clarke the triple threat taking 3 Gold in Points, Light Contact and Kick Light in the -52kg divisions.

Dara Kelly Clarke taking 2 Gold in -42kg Points and Light contact and a silver in Kick Light.

Club mates Eoin Finn and Reece Doyle battled it out three times over the weekend in Points, Light Contact and kick light -47kg with Eoin taking the Gold in Points and Light Contact and a silver in Kick Light and Reece taking the Gold in Kick Light and silver in Points and Light Contact.

Edward Comerford topping the podium fighting in the Older Cadet -37kg Points and taking silver in Light Contact.

Dara, Eoin, Reece and Edward also taking the Gold in the coveted Club Team section.

European Kick Light Champion Cillian McArdle took home the Gold in Kick Light and Light Contact in Junior -57kg.

Dillon King took the Gold in Junior – 63kg Light Contact and a Bronze in Kick Light.

Eryn Birkhead took the Gold in the -50kg Junior Points with Sarah Cassidy taking the Silver.

Anna White took the Silver in -60kg Junior Points.

Callum O’Connor took 2 Bronze in Light Contact and Kick Light.

Leo Golding took the bronze in difficult Junior – 63kg points section.

Naman Shrivastava taking the gold medal in light contact -69kg Junior division, a bronze in Junior -69kg points and a win in Round 1 of the Senior Points -69kg.

Zara Jones ending the weekend with a roaring crowd and a thrilling final in Senior female -65kg taking the Gold for Round 1.

Also making the podium this year are Amy Comerford Gold in Points -32kg and Isabel Golding Gold, Points and Light Contact -47kg, Conor McClelland, Silver points -27kg and Polly Jones, Silver points -27kg all taking home silverware for TMA bringing the total medal haul to 57!

Round 2 will see the Seniors battling it out for their Irish National Team Spot.

In the running from Round 1, Keri Browne taking Gold against teammate Lauren O’Keefe, Shauna Fitzpatrick taking Gold against teammate Eryn Birkhead both points divisions hotly contested.

Cian Colvin and Aaron Keogh fought for their first round Gold in -57kg & -79kg points sections respectively.

Hat trick Duo Ellen McCaughey and Stephen Jones taking Gold in all 3 divisions in Round 1 and Gar Ryan, Conor McGlinghey, Jodie Browne, Syymon Rycek, Liz White, and Luke Daly all topping the podium.
