All-Ireland National Gents Strokeplay at Glenville

A LOCAL club hosted a national pitch and putt competition at the weekend reports Stephen Farrell.

Glenville Pitch and Putt Club, Kiltipper Road, Tallaght hosted the National Gents Strokeplay on Saturday and Sunday.

“With the weather in our favour, 150 senior and intermediate players who had qualified from their own county gave a huge crowd of spectators two days of very high standard pitch and putt,” said Catherine Keane, Chairwoman of Glenville.

Glenville had three qualifiers on Saturday at intermediate level, namely Sean Quinn, Frank Connolly and Luke Devlin and two on Sunday at senior level, namely Joe Joyce and Julian Kelly.

“Unfortunately it was not to be their day and the winner in the senior competition was Kieran Earls from the Bruff club in Limerick – in the intermediate competition it was Tom McMorrow from the Lucan club in Dublin,” said Catherine.

Mark Keohane, President of Pitch and Putt (PPI) Ireland praised and thanked Glenville for the high quality and manicured course and the hospitality to players, spectators and officials.
