
Almost €40 million worth of cannabis seized by Gardai and customs officers
Gardai and customs officers have seized almost €40 million worth of cannabis in a joint operation today.
A statement released today on behalf of both Gardai and Revenue’s Customs Service said: “As part of ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups operating in this jurisdiction, a joint intelligence led operation was conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service and the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by officers from the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
This investigation resulted in the identification and interception of a consignment which arrived into Dublin.
A subsequent search today has resulted in the seizure of 1873 Kgs Herbal Cannabis.
The controlled drugs seized have an estimated street value of €37.5 million.
Joint Investigations by Revenue and An Garda Síochána are continuing both domestically and internationally with regard to this significant seizure of controlled drugs destined for the Irish Market.
