The live crib: Well worth a visit

An Beithilín Beo is an uplifting experience – and free

Once again this year, the wonderful story of the Nativity will be told through Dublin’s premier living Crib and promises to be an uplifting, entertaining and spiritual experience with choreographed movement to a specially collated musical soundtrack.

Aisteoirí Chrónáin, with support from Tower Credit Union, Newlands Garden Centre, South Dublin County Council, South Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Foras na Gaeilge, proudly present An Beithilín Beo on Saturday, December 16 and Sunday December 17 in Áras Chrónáin, Ionad Cultúir, the Irish Cultural Centre in the heart of Clondalkin.

In this year’s spectacle visitors will be treated to a presentation that is live in every sense of the word.

A scene from Bethlehem is recreated by the players and as one makes their way to the authentic hay-bale seating, a cast of centurions, scribes and even animals line the route.

You will see the shepherd, the three kings and a whole cast of characters as the nativity scene comes to life accom-panied by a beautiful musical score.

An Beithilín Beo will enthral, entertain and recapture the wonderful Christmas spirit in everyone, young and old in this unique community presentation.

Construction of the life-size stable is being undertaken by Muintir Chrónáin and the local community –in the old traditional way that is – not a nail or a drill in sight.

The Crib has been devised by former Ros na Rún soap star, Brendan Murray, produced by Brian Ó Gáibhín and directed by Óisín Mac Tiarnáin. The cast and crew are all members of Aisteoirí Chrónáin drama group and friends of Muintir Chrónain and Áras Chrónáin.

Admission is free to all and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mince pies will be served.

Donations are very welcome and gladly accepted to help ensure the continuation of this wonderful, magical community project each year.

A visit to the Crib is highly recommended to anyone who’d like to make their Christmas a little bit more magical.

Performances start at 1pm and run to 5pm, with a performance taking place every 45 minutes.
