Anglers’ group raises objections to car showroom developments

By Maurice Garvey

SOUTH Dublin County Council have requested additional information from Rathfarnham Ford in relation to a planning application seeking to develop its Whitechurch Road showroom.

Rathfarnham Ford are seeking planning permission to alter and extend an existing building on the site and demolish sections of the existing building.

They are also seeking permission to construct a single-storey extension, providing a new lobby to the showroom, along with the provision of signs and ancillary works.

A number of objections to the development were lodged with the council, including a submission by the Glendoher and District Residents Association.

The Dodders Anglers’ Association also submitted an objection, raising their concern for the Whitechurch stream – which runs through the site.

GDRA have objected to the plans, claiming it is contrary to sustainable development and proper planning.

The group say a motor sales outlet is not permitted in an area zoned A, and raised concerns about a lack of noise pollution and light pollution study in the planning application.

They also allude to the proximity of stream banks and riverbanks, and are concerned about the impact any development may have on the natural habitat.

South Dublin County Council have asked Rathfarnham Ford to provide additional information on six points, including proposals for landscaping and boundary treatment, the legal interest of the applicant for the whole subject site, and details of petrol/oil interception for surface water discharge.

The applicant must submit further information within six months.
