Anne was a cherished member of the Sruleen community for 40 years

A LOCAL residents association in Clondalkin has paid their respects to a “valued member” of their crop after her recent passing.

Anne McWeeney of St John’s Crescent passed away on Saturday, August 1 at the age of 72 while under the care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross.

Sruleen Residents Association noted that she left a great mark on her local neighbourhood, which she was a member of for four decades.

Anne was a well-known figure in the local area and was active in both church and community.

She made a strong impact on the Sruleen Parish, where served in a multitude of roles that helped the local church, and also extended her role as a Minister of the Eucharist to Tallaght University Hospital.

In her spare time, she enjoyed planting flowers in the flowerbeds dotted around the neighbourhood.

A statement from Sruleen Residents Association reads: “Anne was a cherished member of our Sruleen community for forty years. She sadly passed away on 1st August 2026, having left an indelible mark on our neighbourhood and its residents.

“Anne was a valued member of the Sruleen parish and was a Minister of the Eucharist both in Sruleen Church and also in Tallaght Hospital.

“She also served was on the parish funeral team where she supported the bereaved and assisted with funeral services for many years.

“She devoted much of her time expertly creating and maintaining the flowerbeds in the Sruleen area; quietly working by herself, declining offers of help or indeed praise.

“She will be hugely missed by her family, her many friends, neighbours and residents of Sruleen.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.”
