Are Ya Dancin: Musical play based in 1960s Donegal comes to the Civic

Are Ya Dancin – A Showband Story’ will be at the Civic Theatre from July 13 to July 15, reports Steven Reid.

A musical play, ‘Are Ya Dancin’ features many crowd-pleasing songs such as ‘The Hucklebuck’, ‘Rock Around the Clock’, and ‘From the Candystore on the Corner’.

With a 30-piece cast, the highly anticipated play will have you: “Dancing around the aisles” according to a spokesperson for the show.

Set in Donegal in the 1960’s in what is described as “the golden era of music”, a young man by the name of Tommy O’Neill finds himself at the head of an on-the-rise showband.

The magic of the past comes alive through his story and the supporting characters.

Renowned director Michael Scott has overseen the production of the musical originally written and directed by Carol Gleeson and Helen Spring, with the show promising to: “Continue its hugely successful run having wowed audiences throughout the country pre-Covid.”
