Arts school raise €6k for Clare’s Wish Foundation

STUDENTS from a Clondalkin performing arts school and a talent agency led by a Walkinstown woman recently raised €6,000 for a charity that grants wishes to adults with terminal illnesses, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.

The pupils from the Clondalkin-based Talented Kids Performing Arts School and clients from the Maureen V Ward (MVW) Talent Agency held two pyjama days last month to raise the money.

The fundraiser days were held on March 22 and March 23, and all of the proceeds went to a charity called Clare’s Wish Foundation.

Explaining how the fundraiser came about, Katelyn from the MVW Talent Agency said: “In January, Talented Kids Performing Arts School and MVW Talent Agency were contacted by Kevin Clancy, the founder and wish granter of Clare’s Wish Foundation.

“Kevin told us about the amazing charity, founded in honour of his late sister and father, that helps grant wishes to adults with terminal illnesses.

“We were astounded as we had never heard of a charity like this.”

The performing arts school and talent agency were keen to help the charity, so arranged the pyjama days in aid of them and provided their students with sponsorship cards.

The children then returned the sponsorship cards and money raised on the pyjama day they attended and raised €6,000 for Clare’s Wish.

“We had a brilliant time,” added Katelyn.

“An overwhelming number of our students took sponsor cards and returned them on our pyjama day – which was a total hoot!

“We were blown away to have raised €6,000.61 in total for such a worthwhile cause.”

The children and staff from the talent school and agency will present a cheque for €6,000.61 to Kevin from Clare’s Wish at one of the children’s classes this Saturday, April 13.
