PRIZEWINNING artworks, entered by youngsters from Clondalkin, Lucan and Knocklyon, are among the 13 artworks selected from the archives to illustrate the 2021 Texaco Children’s Art Competition Calendar.

The calendar, which was published this week, features artworks drawn from the past 16 years of the competition.

It includes former Knocklyon student Jodie Ryan’s picture ‘The Farmhouse’ which Jodie submitted in the 60th year of the competition, held in 2014, while she was a pupil at her local St Colmcille’s Community School.

Winning second prize in the 12-13 years age category, Jodie’s piece appears during the month of April in the calendar where it will be seen in thousands of homes throughout Ireland during the coming year.

Now aged 20, and currently studying social studies, Jodie still enjoys art as a hobby and continues to paint beautiful works for family and friends.

Meanwhile, Síobhra O’Reardon Farrell, a former student at Coláiste Bríde, Clondalkin, also submitted an entry in 2014, her striking portrait of Blur frontman ‘Damon Albarn’ winning third prize in the 12-13 years age category.

Lastly, Sara Jagodzinska won third prize in the 9-11 years age category for her work entitled ‘Midnight Swim’ in 2018, as a pupil at Scoil Mhuire National School, Lucan. Sara’s mesmerising picture is a wonderful addition to the calendar.
