Teenagers deny assaulting youth outside Longitude music festival
TWO TEENAGERS aged 17 and 19 who deny assaulting a youth outside a music festival had their case remanded for hearing by Tallaght Court.
The case is set to take two days to hear and involves 14 prosecution witnesses.
The 17-year-old, who has an address in Knocklyon, is charged with assaulting a named male causing him harm at an estate in Rathfarnham on July 16, 2016.
The 19-year-old, who has an address in Rathfarnham, is also charged with the same offence.
Judge Patricia McNamara has accepted jurisdiction in the case.
The court had heard it will be alleged that the 17-year-old was part of a group of 30 males who were making their way towards the Longitude Festival.
The teenager and three others were allegedly involved in an argument with another group of males but they continued to walk down the street.
The 17-year-old and the 19-year-old allegedly approached the injured party from behind and punched him, knocking him to the ground and making him unconscious.
The 19-year-old then allegedly kicked the injured party while he was on the ground a number of times.
The Prosecuting garda told Judge McNamara that there would be 14 prosecution witnesses.
Judge McNamara said the court had set aside two days in April in Tallaght Court to hear the case.
She remanded both defendants on continuing bail to a date in April for hearing.
