Balaclava-clad man charged with waving hammer and robbing petrol station of over €500
A BALACLAVA-clad man who was allegedly waving a hammer and robbed a Lucan petrol station of over €500 has been sent forward for trial to Dublin Circuit Court.
Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown District Court had previously refused jurisdiction in Michael Doherty’s case.
Doherty was before the court for service of his book of evidence.
Doherty, aged 41, with an address at Kilclare Crescent, Tallaght, is charged with robbing a staff member at Maxol Filling Station, Newcastle Road, Lucan, on March 31, 2017.
The court had heard it will be alleged that at 9.10pm on March 31, 2017, Doherty entered the Maxol station wearing a balaclava and waving a hammer.
Doherty allegedly threatened the staff member with a hammer and made off with €520 in cash.
A Solicitor for the DPP told the Court that the book was ready to be served.
He said the DPP had consented for Doherty to be sent forward on trial to the present sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
Judge McHugh issued Doherty with the alibi caution and sent him forward on bail to the present sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
