Appeal for information after mare left to die in Dublin Mountains

ANIMAL volunteers have appealed for information, after a mare was left to die in the Dublin mountains over the Easter holidays.

Two volunteers with My Lovely Horse Rescue, and a couple of local residents, spent Easter Sunday with the neglected mare and another pony at a site in Ballinascorney.

“The poor mare didn’t stand a chance. She was so far gone that My Lovely Horse Rescue had to call a vet and pay for her to be put to sleep,” said a My Lovely Horse spokesperson.

“Once again we foot the bill for others that don’t give a damn. Owner recently put the poor mare in to keep the stallion from breaking out. What a cruel idea.”

They are appealing for anyone with information to private message them on Facebook – any communication provided will be kept confidential.

“This behavior is happening every day, poor animals suffering through owners, laziness, lack of knowledge or down right cruelty,” added the My Lovely Horse spokesperson.
