Ballyfermot woman critical after being stabbed in the chest outside home

A Ballyfermot woman in her 70s is in critical condition in hospital after she was stabbed in the chest on the doorstep of her home this morning.

Gardaí in Ballyfermot are investigating an incident of assault causing harm which occurred at approximately 09:30 this morning on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot.

According to Gardai, the woman, who is in her 70s was taken to St James Hospital with apparent stab wounds. Her condition is described as critical.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
