Bank of Ireland forced to pull latest ad after online backlash

Bank of Ireland’s latest mortgage advertising campaign has come in for some hard criticism and has already been pulled just days after it launched.

The ad on Twitter featured a prospective first time buyer moving back to her parents’ home, while her boyfriend did the same to save for a mortgage.

The text that featured read: “Orla and her boyfriend stopped renting and moved back with their parents to save the deposit for their 1st home.”

Many have criticised the ad for being out of touch, while others have said it mirrors the reality for many first-time buyers.

Some argued that encouraging people to move back in with parents was the wrong thing to do, while others felt moving into the family home was not an option for a lot of people.

Today we want to know, what do you think? Were people right when they said the ad was out of touch or is the idea of moving into your parents’ home with your partner the reality for many?
