Boomers Pub to convert off-licence into takeaway

PERMISSION has been granted for a public house to relocate and convert it’s off-licence into a takeaway restaurant after following the “badly affected” industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Honeybridge Ltd have been granted planning and retention permission for it’s application for Boomers Public House at Knockmitten Neighbourhood Centre in Clondalkin.

In the application, which was filed by Stephen Mason Architectural and Planning Services on behalf of Honeybridge Ltd, it states that “the existing established takeaway is part of the family run business”.

“The proposed new takeaway will also be part of the family run business, operating with the same opening hours.”

They added, in conclusion: “This proposed development is being considered due to the current pandemic and as a consequence of which the dynamic of the public house industry and the services they provide have been badly affected.”

Retention permission was sought and approved for the removal of the ground floor internal courtyard.

According the application, the ground floor courtyard was removed around three-years-ago.

Planning permission was approved for six aspects of the re-development.

The first is to reduce the size of the lounge floor area with works to include new entrance doors to the lounge within the building elevation facing the car park.

A new external fire exit door from the lounge area to open space to the rear of the building and the internal walls forming a snug being demolished completely make up that aspect of the application.

Extension of the kitchen within part of the previous lounge area, the removal of internal doors between the lounge area and internal layout changes to lounge area public toilets were given the green-light.

Plans are for the relocation of the off-licence into the previous lounge area of the pub with a new window to the off licence within the building elevation fronting the car park.

Lastly, change of use permission was approved of the previous off-licence into a takeaway restaurant.
