Br Kieran Nally remembered by students at Moyle Park College

TRIBUTES were paid this week to former Moyle Park College teacher in Clondalkin, and Marist Brother Kieran Nally, who sadly passed away on December 29.

Past pupils in Moyle College fondly remembered their mentor, who taught Irish, English, Maths, History, Geography, but Latin was his “greatest forte”, according to Tom Horan.

Posting a tribute on RIP.ie, Mr Horan said it was because of Brother Nally that he kept Honours Latin to Leaving Cert, and “still remember him whenever I read Roman history”.

Round Tower GAA Club posted a message of support to the family of Brother Kieran on their Facebook page on Sunday.

The club said they wanted to “extend deepest sympathy to the family of the late Brother Kieran Nally and to the Marist order on the passing of Brother Kieran.

“We ask all our members and friends to observe that Moyle Park grounds are closed this weekend while Brother Kieran is waked in the brother’s house.”

Funeral Mass took place on Monday, January 2, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin, followed by burial afterwards in Brother Nally’s hometown in Athlone, at Cornamagh Cemetery.

A message on RIP.ie said: “Br Kieran Nally (Macartan), Marist Brothers, Moyle Park College, Clondalkin, and formerly of Marist Brothers Athlone, Westmeath, died peacefully at Tallaght Hospital, on December 29.

“Predeceased by his mother, father, brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted by his Marist Brother Confreres in Ireland and sadly missed by his sister-in-law, Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, extended family, friends and colleagues.”
