Brave display by Tallaght athletes in League Final

TALLAGHT athletes combined very well and put in a brave display at the National Track and Field League Finals in Tullamore last Sunday, finishing fifth overall in Division One.

Simon Essuman secured top points in the 400m hurdles while Christopher Duffy and Joseph Ojewumi also earned full rewards in the 400m and 100m events respectively.

There were third place finishes for Sean Flanagan in the 200m, Luke Coleman in the 5000m and 3000m walk and Sean Murray in the Hammer throw while Eoghan Keaney finished a good fourth in the 3000m Steeple chase as did Patrick Curranm in the shot putt.

Sean McCabe picked up valuable points when he finished fifth in the triple jump and Patrick Curran had a similar score in the pole vault.

McCabe and Paul Murphy added points in their respective long jump and 56lb weight for distance throw in which both ened up sixth overall.

There were seventh placed finishes for McCabe in the 800m, Duffy in the Javelin and Murray in the Discus.

The team signed off the in style with the 4x400m Relay team of McCabe, Duffy, Essuman and Flanagan finishing first while in the 4x100m relay team of Ojewumi, Sean Bolger, Michael Ogunsiu-gan, Josh Essuman and Aidan Darcy combined to took third.
