Brazen burglars in Clondalkin returned to steal cars using stolen keys from house

A Clondalkin resident has warned others about the importance of security in the home after their house was burgled and two sets of car keys were stolen.

The burglary took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning at a house in Michael Collins Park.

The thieves were disturbed by those living in the home, but the brazen burglars returned the following night in an attempt to steal the vehicles using the keys.

However, they were chased from the garden by a family member of the home owner.

Speaking via the Clondalkin Neighbourhood Watch Facebook page, the resident said: “Our house was broken into Tuesday night at approx. 3:25am in Michael Collins Park, they stole both sets of car keys and ran from the house when they were disturbed by us.

“The following night they returned to try take the cars at 4:30am however a family member stayed up all night in case they came back and chased them from the garden.

Gardai from Clondalkin confirmed they are investigating the incident, with a Garda spokesperson saying: “Gardaí are investigating a burglary which occurred on the 19th April 2017 at Michael Collins Park, Clondalkin at approximately 3.30am.

“Investigation are ongoing and no arrests made.”
