In response SDCC said that such incidences have fallen thanks to the presence of Dublin Mountain Volunteers, and the growing number of visitors to the site.

Through collaboration with the DMP, local community Gardai also monitor the car parks at busier locations at the Hellfire Club, Cruagh and Ticknock.

The Council said that the most vulnerable vehicles are those parked on the roadside.

The Council added: “In this context enhanced car parking facilities and other safety and security issues, including CCTV, will be reviewed and addressed through the proposed planning application for the development and through future operational arrangements”.
