Cannabis worth an estimated €830k seized in Rathcoole

HERBAL cannabis with an estimated street value of €830,000 was seized at a premises in Rathcoole on Tuesday, February 13. 

According to a Garda statement issued, the seizure was part of an intelligence-led operation targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

The operation was conducted by personnel attached to Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

The Garda statement said: “As a result of this operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 41.5Kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €830,000, at a premises in Rathcoole, Dublin.

“One male, aged in his 30s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in South Dublin.”

Investigations are ongoing, gardai said.
