Care at Home expand in Tallaght after agreeing move with Trustus

THE homecare services provided by Tallaght-based Trustus Senior Care were recently transferred to Care at Home in a move that has been described as “seamless”.

News of the change over first came about on March 27, when clients received a letter from Trustus announcing the change but assuring clients there would be no change to their continuity of care.

The handover occurred on April 15, when Care at Home took on the staff of 25 carers from Trustus, and two scheduling staff from Trustus, Ashley Byrne and Caroline O’Flaherty.

Paula Maher, founder of Care at Home, told The Echo: “It gives the clients and the carers reassurance that the carers that have been looking after them all these years will remain the same.

“It does give continuity of care to all of the clients.”

The agreement with Trustus came about after Care at Home was approached by John Warren from the service several months ago, and found that both organisations shared similar values and approaches.

“We were approached just to have a conversation about it,” said Ms Maher.

“We discussed how our services are run and how we do things.

“We were looking to expand our services in Tallaght, so we did our homework on Trustus and we both agreed to it.

“Both organisations are very compatible and we’re both very similar, it’s more than just a business for us, there’s genuine care there.”

While Care at Home is based in Walkinstown, the company is renting office space in Trustus so staff and carers can still continue to work from the Trustus headquarters in in Tallaght.

“It’s been going really well,” added Ms Maher.

“We’ve been really impressed.

“Everything has just been seamless.

“The staff are a lovely cohort of ladies who are very dedicated to their clients, and they have a really strong work ethic.

“Everything has stayed the same.

“The same carers are going to the same clients and we’re hoping to expand even more in the Tallaght area, so the plan is to have an even bigger presence here.”
