AS PART of the Centenary celebrations, commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the foundation of An Garda Síochána, a Centenary Mass was held on Saturday, June 11, reports Maurice Garvey.

Among those in attendance were Superintendent Frank Ferry and some of his colleagues at Crumlin Garda Station.

Spt Ferry said a “close bond” has existed between AGS and Mount Argus Church over many years.

“I am delighted to have Fr Joe Kennedy and our garda chaplain with us to celebrate Mass. Today we reflect as a district on the contribution of our members that have serviced the Dublin 12 area throughout this period.

“I welcome members past and present and thank them for their dedicated service and commitment to AGS. I also wish to remember those who are no longer with us today, and in particular, the 89 members who gave their lives in service to the organisation and country.”
