A message from Lucy Nugent, CEO of Tallaght University Hospital
Since the COVID-19 Pandemic was officially announced our lives both work and personal have been turned upside down.
Our preparations for dealing with the increasing number of patients that will need medical support through their COVID-19 illness continue.

Just as important is the focus we have to keep on ensuring other ill and vulnerable patients receive the treatment they need.
While it would be unfair to single out any one department or group of staff for their efforts, I do want to thank everyone for their incredible commitment to accept necessary changes to work patterns to keep services running and the willingness of staff to adapt to the changing needs of how we continue to run services for patients.
I would also like to acknowledge the support of your families who are keeping the home fires burning enabling staff to continue to work.
Over the coming weeks our colleagues will see some familiar faces as we have many staff returning from career breaks, secondment and retirement to support changed rosters and the additional support that will be required.
I’d like to thank these staff for returning and supporting the Hospital during this challenging time.
With all the challenges we have faced in the past with storms etc., I have never experienced such commitment and dedication from staff as I have in the last few days.
I am very proud of TUH and how we have galvanised into action to deal with this latest challenge.
I would like to thank them for their support.
Whilst there are lots of uncertainties in life at the moment I am certain that together we will do the very best we can for our patients, our community and one another.
