THE Tallaght Parents Autism Support Group (TPASG) was presented with a cheque for more than €15,000 by local events group, Peacock Events, last weekend in the Maldron Hotel.

The four challenges, hosted by community champion James Lumumba, along with his team at Peacock Events, saw €15,150 raised in aid of TPASG, which supports parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.

Included within the events were an Easter Egg Hunt, a 12k weight-loss challenge, a pound-for-pound, white-collar boxing event and a Run4Autism marathon, with members of the TPASG also taking part.

Lynn Byrne and Tara Hamilton of the TPASG thanked James for his support following the cheque presentation.

Lynn told The Echo: “Both myself and Tara Hamilton would like to thank everybody who took part in these challenges for such an important cause.

“Words cannot describe our appreciation to James and his team at Peacock events. We are overwhelmed by the outcome.
“These funds will be used to aid such courses such as speech therapy, social outings and life skills such as cookery classes and yoga mediation among many others.

“Our children badly need these because we still remain unable to access grants or government funding.

“All these courses will be supported by mothers of the Tallaght Parents Autism Support Group who volunteer.”
