Charged with stealing €3,800 in welfare payments
A MAN accused of stealing more than €3,800 in rent supplement and social welfare payments has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.
Ntite Nyangwile was before Judge David McHugh for service of his book of evidence.
Nyangwile, aged 51, with an address at Buirg An Ri Glen, Lucan, is charged with stealing more than €3,800 in rent supplement payments and social welfare payments on dates between 2005 and 2017.
He is also charged with knowingly making a false or misleading statement to the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection on dates between 2008 and 2012.
There are 26 charges in total against Nyangwile.
Solicitor for the DPP, Michelle Sheeran, told Judge McHugh that the book of evidence was ready to be served. She said the DPP had consented to send Nyangwile forward to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
Judge McHugh gave Nyangwile the formal alibi caution.
Nyangwile’s solicitor Julianne Hayden said her client was not working, and the judge assigned Ms Hayden and one junior counsel on free legal aid.
Judge McHugh sent Nyangwile forward on bail to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
