Christmas cheer from RAMS in Rhythm

A LOCAL retired men’s choir is preparing to perform Christmas carols in Peamount and Liffey Valley to raise money for charity this month, while bringing some Christmas cheer to the community.

The Newcastle-based Retired Active Men’s Social (RAMS) choir, called RAMS in Rhythm, are a familiar sight and sound in the community and they have raised thousands of euro for charity over the years.

They’re continuing their charitable endeavours this month, which will see them performing in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre on December 23 from 12 noon to 2pm.

They’ll also be in full voice when they bring their carol-singing repertoire to the staff and residents of Peamount Healthcare on December 22.

This follows on from the RAMS holding their last social occasion of the year last week, where the members were treated to Christmas puddings and a bumper raffle.

Matt Dowling, the secretary of RAMS, told The Echo: “The members were served a festive plate of mince pies, sherry trifle, and more plum pudding with Chantilly cream.

“Our acting chairman, Mr Jim Nolan, wished all the members a very happy Christmas, and reflected on the year past, with our educational outings, pool competitions, and looking forward to our now annual Christmas function.

“Jim also remembered our deceased members, and those who had passed away in 2023. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

The RAMS in Rhythm did what they do best and gave an uplifting rendition of ‘Let It Snow’ for their fellow RAMS members at the end of the social event.

The following day, the RAMS in Rhythm sang in front of the GPO on O’Connell Street to raise funds for the Capuchin Day Centre and are excited to continue performing for good causes this Christmas.
