Citywest Business Campus to host eighth 4km fun walk

THE EIGHTH Annual Citywest Fun Walk will this year celebrate Barretstown’s birthday as it reaches 25 years in operation.
The 4km walk is being hosted by Citywest Campus with the challenge to raise €25,000 over a lunchtime on May 23.

Last year over 400 people took to the streets and this year walkers will take to the route which starts at Lake Drive, makes it way out on to Citywest Road before looping back around through the Kingswood Road and back to the start/finish line at Lake Drive.
As this year will both raise funds for Barretstown and commemorate the charities big birthday, participants can also expect a whole host of activities with party games, entertainment, treats and a raffle all set to take place around the walk.
All of the prizes for the raffle have been donated by businesses in Citywest with a 55-inch 4K Panasonic TV, 40-inch NordMende TV, €200 One4All voucher and a €250 voucher for Dunnes Stores up for grabs.
Individuals looking to register for the event will need to pay €15, or for a group booking consisting of teams of 10 it will only cost €10 a head – with all proceeds going to Barretstown.
Barretstown was established in 1994 by Hollywood actor Paul Newman as a way to help sick children and their families deal with the emotional scars left behind from fighting serious illness.
Through running a series of camps and programmes, the organisation tries to provide as many activities as they can for children in need and rely on the sponsors of the Citywest fun walk to make the event happen year on year – and raise funds for Barretstown.
They have three different sponsorship levels – Gold, Silver and Bronze – with each having different benefits for businesses looking to sponsor the event.
Ranging from €500 to €3500 with varying perks, each level will receive recognition on the event website as well as inclusion on the Sponsor Wall at the start/finish line and a chance to include an item in the goodie bags.
