FINE Gael councillor Baby Pereppadan has this evening been elected as the new Mayor of South Dublin County Council.
The Tallaght South councillor was elected during the local authority’s annual meeting, with Independent councillor Alan Hayes from Palmerstown elected as Deputy Mayor.
The annual meeting was the first sitting of the newly elected members since the Local Elections two weeks ago.
Cllr Madeleine Johannsson (PBP) also ran for the role of County Mayor.
