CLONDALKIN Cricket Club emerged victorious from their first ever Leinster League match, beating neighbours and Division 11 opponents Lucan by 102 runs when they met on Sunday in Tymon Park.

Khurshid Anowar led the charge for the league debutants, carding 73 runs while Mohammad Rahman chipped in with 30 and Abul Shapon hit 15.

Lucan’s reply was bundled at 79 all out in just 19 overs with Ali Hashmi scoring 50 runs for the visitors.

Hashmi has scored 1129 at 34.21 per match while team mate Jatinder Kumar only needs three wickets to reach their 50 wickets milestone for his club.

The victory was a massive early boost for Clondalkin who were only founded back in April of last year, playing a number of friendlies up until the start of their first competitive season last weekend.

Next up for Clondalkin will be the challenge of Rush in Tymon Park this Sunday while Lucan will face off against Clontarf at home this Saturday in St Catherine’s Park.
