Clondalkin Equine Club to host open day as part of aware week

ANYONE interested in horses or a career in the equine industry is encouraged to register for an open day at Clondalkin Equine Club on Saturday, October 23 from 11am – 3pm, reports Maurice Garvey.

The event at Clondalkin Equine Club, Ballyowen Lane, is taking place as part of Horse Aware Week.

Entry is free of charge but attendees must register first –  the link will be available on the club social media accounts nearer to the date.

On the day, there will be a range of talks provided by professionals from the Army Equitation School, the Garda Mounted Unit, and by the famed Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) in the Curragh.

Recently, two members of Clondalkin Equine Club – Tony Ellis (17) and Luke Byrne (16) – were accepted to this year’s Residential Trainee Jockey course at the prestigious RACE a social project that supports young racing apprentices.

At the open day, there will also be talks and riding demonstrations by Clondalkin Equine Club, the Irish School of Farriery, and Master Saddler.

Complimentary tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available.

At the end of the day, a raffle will be held with great prizes for both horses and owners.

SOLAS, DSPCA, Cherry Orchard Community Training Centre and Horse Racing Ireland will have information stands at the Clondalkin venue.
