Clondalkin murder happened just 300m from Garda Station

The latest gangland-style murder happened in Clondalkin this evening, just 300 metres from Ronanstown Garda Station.

An appeal has been issued for information after a 62-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed on St Ronan’s Drive at around 5:10pm this evening.

The victim was sitting in a car with his partner at the time, and although uninjured, she is in a very distressed state.

Speaking tonight Superintendent Dermot Mann said early investigations suggest that after the shooting a lone gunman got into a white van, partial registration 10-CE, and made his way from Ronan’s Drive onto the Neilstown Road.

Gardai believe the vehicle then turned into the Neilstown Shopping Centre where the van was later found burned out.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 666 7700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any garda station.
