FOLLOWING the success of ‘Tallaght Talks’, Clondalkin is set to host a similar mental health awareness event in April.

Sinn Féin councillor Mark Ward, a behavioural therapist, says ‘Clondalkin Talks’ will have a variety of people from different areas talking and raising awareness of mental health issues.

Cllr Ward said: “I am delighted to announce we will be bringing this event to the Green Isle Hotel on April 6. I followed closely the success and impact Tallaght Talks had on the people of Tallaght and we are aiming that Clondalkin Talks has the same affect.”

“I have been working on getting this event to this stage for a while now, and would like to thank Senator Lynn Ruane for all of her help and advice.

“The Green Isle Hotel kindly came on board. So far, we have a number of high-profile, well-known people talking about their own experience from a personal and professional perspective.”

He continued: “Provisionally, these include my fellow councillor Kenneth Egan, FM 104 Presenter Keith Ward, Clondalkin poet Colm Keegan, Suicide Awareness activist John Quinn and CEO of ASIAM, the wonderful Adam Harris.

“We are also planning to have some other speakers under different categories such as dual diagnosis.”

Local and some national organisations will be invited to this event.

“At this stage I am sending out an open invitation to any group or individual to contact me who would like to become part of this event,” said Cllr Ward.
