Clondalkin Tidy Towns celebrate five proud years together

CLONDALKIN Tidy Towns are celebrating five years serving the community, and are looking for new members to help carry on the good work in the area.

The group of volunteers have enjoyed great success over the years, including winning a South Dublin County Council community group of the year, Pride of Place runner-up, two-times National Tidy Towns Endeavour award winners, Clondalkin Chamber of Commerce Environmental Protection award winners and most recently, scooping the South Dublin County Civic Pride and Community Endeavour award.

A statement released by CTT said they met as a group for the first time five years ago to “clean up our village.”

“Our original aims and ideas are still very much the same. We’ve added to our wonderful group of volunteers along the way and we’ve grown into one of the most energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated Tidy Towns groups in Ireland.

“We’ve had great success during that time but we don’t do this work for awards. We do it because we love where we live.”

The group attribute some of their greatest successes to the work of volunteers “on the ground.”

“Our wonderful 1916 Commemorative Garden. Our fabulous summer planters. The trees planted along Tower Road and Ninth Lock Road. Our Camac Riverbank Biodiversity Garden. Our regular Saturday morning clean-up of the village and Tuesday evenings during summer hours.”

CTT are looking for new volunteers to help out for an hour a week.
