It was a great achievement for Clooney who has competed in every competition locally and nationally in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, picking up top honours in all of his outings.

His success in the Irish Open, followed up on his victory in the 60kg division at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) tournament earlier this year.

He also carded a win in the Midlands Open Jiu Jitsu event in June before drawing his contest in the Cage Legacy Show staged in St Mark’s in September.

He will soon be turning his attention to the Dublin International Jiu Jitsu Open on December 2, hoping to see out the year on a winning note.
