Community gathers to pray for families

THE FUNERAL for Lisa Cash, and her twin siblings Chelsea and Christy Cawley, will take place on Friday morning following the “traumatic event” that resulted in their deaths.

Lisa Cash (18) and eight-year-old twins, Chelsea and Christy Cawley, were killed in their home in Rossfield last Sunday with their brother, Andy Cash being charged with their murders.

The event and what transpired has shaken the nation, as the family and community grieve the tragic loss of three young people.

A prayer service was held in St Aidan’s Church in Brookfield on Tuesday evening in memory of Lisa, Chelsea and Christy.

Mother Margaret Cash McDonagh was present, as her family, friends, students from the nearby St Aidan’s National School and members of the community filled the church.

Songs were played and prayers were read in their memory.

Parish priest, Fr Bill O’Shaughnessy took the prayer service, and speaking to The Echo afterwards, emphasised the need for support.

“My thoughts first are with Margaret and the family for what they have faced and what they are going to have to continue facing as a family,” Fr Bill told The Echo.

“This traumatic event has had a detrimental effect to the atmosphere around Rossfield and the psyche as a whole parish.

“One of the most heartbreaking things that I’ve seen was young schoolchildren crying for their friends at the prayer service [on Tuesday] night.

“As a community and parish, we are doing our best to reach out to those that need it and in St Aidan’s Church we will continue to offer a place of quiet and solitude for anyone that may need to come in and take a moment, say a little prayer.

“We are so caught up in it all but what we need to be most concerned with at present is the family and neighbours who witnessed this atrocious act, we need to support them.”

Lisa Cash, Chelsea and Christy Cawley are reposing at Brian McElroy Funeral Home in Tallaght today, Thursday, from 2pm to 5pm before removal to St Aidan’s Church, arriving at 5.30pm.

Funeral mass will take place on Friday at 10am before burial in Bohernabreena Cemetery.

Lisa, Chelsea, and Christy are beloved children of Margaret and the late Andy Cash and the late Billy Cawley, and beloved siblings of Margaret and Mikey.
