Community is in safe hands

CIVIC-minded children from Fettercairn in Tallaght were awarded for transforming their estate over the summer holidays.
Members of the Fettercairn Junior Estate Management team, aged between seven and 12, spent their summer holidays caring for their community by keeping it litter-free, to the benefit of both residents and wildlife.

According to Mary Keegan, Fettercairn Estate Management worker:
“The kids’ work, alongside the adult volunteers of the estate management group, has transformed Kilmartin estate beyond recognition.
“The community is in safe hands with the new kids on the block.”
Members of the community policing team were also present on the day and presented young volunteers with their awards, which included certificates, vouchers and goodie bags.
Ms Keegan also wished to thank South Dublin County Council Estate Management section for its continued support, and the adult volunteers for their commitment to the Estate Management project, and for working with the children to clean their community.
Thanks were also extended to the Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre for donating the vouchers and the Coffee Dock within the community centre for the goodie bags.
