Community rallies behind families impacted on by Tallaght house fire
THE Aylesbury community has united in support of two families impacted on by an early morning house fire in Heatherview on Friday, July 27.
Since the fire, which started shortly after 6am on Friday morning, there has been an outpouring of support for the families affected – with residents donating essentials, such as clothes, to their neighbours.

Yesterday, the St Martin’s Residents’ Association also started a GoFundMe page, with more than €3,800 raised as of this morning.
According to the GoFundMe page: “With the permission of the families involved in the devastating house fire on Friday 27 of July on Heatherview Lawn, Aylesbury, we are raising funds for the two impacted families.
“The damage to both homes is extensive, with decades of belongings and memories gone.
“Both families have to move out.
“The repair work will take many, many months to complete, meanwhile they must begin to pull together the basic necessities for day-to-day family life.
“Thanks to everyone who has donated immediate essentials of clothes etc, we want to raise a fund to allow the families begin to gather what they need to rebuild their lives and homes.”
No injuries reported
Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the house fire in Heatherview, Aylesbury, at around 6.25am last Friday – with no injuries reported.
Four pumps from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn fire stations attended along with an emergency tender, ambulance and two district officers and a senior officer from Dublin Fire Brigade.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an alleged arson attack, with a male in his twenties arrested by gardai.
In a statement to The Echo this morning, a Garda spokesman said: “The arrested man was charged in relation to the incident and appeared before CCJ [Criminal Courts of Justice] on Saturday morning.
“He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill and will appear again to CCJ [Criminal Courts of Justice] on Tuesday morning 31st July, 2018.”
