Coronavirus: 6,597 new cases confirmed

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 6,597 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

On Thursday, January 20, 4,564 people also registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.

According to NPHET, this data is provisional and not directly comparable with laboratory PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases registered through the HSE data hub.

As of 8am today, 892 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 88 are in ICU.
