Council CEO to retire from his role this year
THE current chief executive of South Dublin County Council, Daniel McLoughlin, will retire from his role later this year, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.
The Echo understands that Mr McLoughlin will be stepping down as chief executive in May, and an interim chief executive will be appointed in his place.
Mr McLoughlin has been at the helm of the local authority for many years, overseeing the council’s response to issues such as the pandemic, and severe weather events like the heavy snow in 2018.
His tenure has also included overseeing projects such as the Clonburris development, the €300k Have Your Say scheme, and the development of older persons’ housing projects.
A spokesperson for South Dublin County Council told The Echo this week: “The chief executive, Daniel McLaughlin, is retiring in the coming months.
“The recruitment process for his replacement will be conducted by the Public Appointments Service.
“An interim chief executive will be appointed until the PAS process is completed.”
