The local authority won the Best Community Health Initiative Award for the MEDEX Programme, which consists of community-based, medically supervised exercise classes for those with chronic illnesses.

The Best Connected Council (Communications and Digital Marketing) Award also went to SDCC for their mydoorstep.ie initiative, which provides information about amenities in the South Dublin County area.

Fingal County Council won Best Public Park for St Catherine’s Park in Lucan, with the 200-acre park straddling three council areas – South Dublin, Fingal and Kildare.

The winning local authorities each received a bespoke crystal trophy in recognition of their award win.

The finalists for the LAMA Community and Council Awards were nominated by county, city, town or borough councillors or members of the public.

All those nominated were then contacted by event organisers and asked to submit their entry.

Following this they were shortlisted before the winners were ultimately announced at last week’s gala awards ceremony.
