Cllrs Gogarty and Lavelle both asked for an updated timescale on the project.

The Council replied that the design team for the project met with the Chief Executive and Senior Management and based on their brief outlined a number of proposals for the pool in Lucan and explained these in terms of cost and site opportunities and restrictions.

The Council added: “Following this meeting the Design Team were requested by the Chief Executive to look again at the options and report back again taking into account the budget and site available.

“A meeting will be held with the Lucan Pool Campaign Group as soon as is practicable following provisional agreement on the findings”.

The meeting also heard that nearly €12,000 has been spent on the project so far.

Councillor Liona O’Toole tabled a question asking the Chief Executive to “ confirm what is the total amount spent to date on design costs towards the Lucan swimming pool from the agreed €450,000 allocated to this project?”

The Council replied that a design team had been appointed and that payment will be made on a staged basis to the consultants “and to date payment of €11,685 has been made.”
