Crooksling action meeting to focus on developing elder-care nursing homes

A PUBLIC meeting is being held this Saturday, October 15, in the Brittas Community Centre which will focus on the need to develop public sector elder care facilities, with a specific focus on local nursing homes such as St Brigid’s in Crooksling and Peamount in Newcastle.

Organised by the Crooksling Action Group, with support from a number of cross-party politicians, the meeting will be attended by Dr Ronan Collins, the clinical lead for age-related healthcare in Tallaght Hospital –who, the main speaker on the day, will discuss what needs to be delivered in terms of nursing care and the role of the public nursing homes both for community care and as centres of excellence and teaching.

Dr Collins will also discuss the demographic locally and the number of people over the age of 75 years who will be living in Tallaght Hospital’s catchment area by 2031, which is expected to jump from 6,949 people to 20,776.

The meeting, which is open to all members of the public, local groups and all politicians, will be held this Saturday, October 15, at 3pm in the Brittas Community Centre.
