Cup glory for Rovers U17s
SHAMROCK Rovers women’s under 17 side earned themselves a monumental 4-2 victory in the Academy Cup final after they defeated crosstown rivals Bohemians last weekend in Dalymount Park.
It was an excellent start for Rovers who went 1-0 up just after 15 minutes gone thanks to a goal from Lara Dallaghan with Faith Dawson providing the assist.
Things went from bad to worse for Bohemians after their goalkeeper was sent off in the first half, though Rovers were unable to make the most of their advantage with the score still at 1-0 by the time of the interval.
In what was an exceptionally high scoring half, Bohs would be the first to strike with a Maisy Healy goal levelling matters in the 51st minute.
Rovers would soon find themselves back in control however with Dawson successfully converting a penalty.
The score remained 2-1 until the final 10 minutes of the game, Aoibh Galvin gave Rovers a two goal cushion before Fiadh Woods pulled one back for Bohs with seven minutes left on the clock.
Two minutes after that the result would be put beyond any doubt however as Kadi Stafford got their fourth goal of the day.
